Native American Villages?

White's various prints depicting Native American life didn't show me much that I didn't expect, until I saw the images of the villages.  The villages didn't look like anything I had ever seen before (and they didn't have any tepees).  Pomeiooc was particularly strange as it looked more like a cage than a village with its perfectly circular palisade.  The living quarters seem rather cramped and the stakes are depicted as being taller than the buildings inside.  The environment seems rather claustrophobic to me, and it was certainly not the kind of village I imagined (not that I would know).  Secota looks like a much more livable environment.  However, I also thought that Secota's layout was interesting since it is not quite circular.  The wide road that runs through the village reminds me of a small town main street.  White's prints surely don't capture everything about these villages, but what they do differs greatly from my preconceptions of Native American dwellings.
