Science's Hand-Me-Downs

One thing that came to mind recently that I thought I would write about is the way old science buildings get dumped on other disciplines.  It's true that Holland Hall was built to, in a sense, put the natural sciences in their place on campus, but it is quite evident now that these sciences now occupy a much more prominent place than they did before.  The Tomson (or Old Science) Center joins Holland Hall as another building hand-me-downed from Science to its younger siblings, the more traditional liberal arts of languages and the social studies.  And Science gets its third purpose-built structure on campus, currently adjacent to and outshining its predecessors.  I wonder if the Sciences will abandon Regents in the not-so-distant future.  At the moment the notion seems crazy, considering all of the building's very technological and scientific features, but surely the same has been said for Holland and Tomson.
