An interesting piece about how as more people climb out of (relative) poverty in developing countries, democratic ideals tend to play a larger role in politics.
I find this interesting because of the connection between economic conditions and political conditions; i.e. which social classes are most likely to stay involved in politics. What I've been reading is that people at the very bottom of the ladder are generally too busy staying afloat to really become engaged.
I found another article describing this same phenomenon on a more local level here in America.
Mike, A fine start. How do they do it? Tell me more about why this interests you. LDL
